The answer to this question varies. This is a good investment if
1) is a designer piece
2) designer jewelry is rare
3) the condition is excellent
4) if you buy to wear, invest or sell
On the right is a beautiful piece of designer style DeLissa Juliana & Elster. What a beautiful set of vintage jewelry! All stones are present, the colors are remarkable and the design is unique.
This is even more valuable as an investment, it is a 5-piece dress! Wow … now rare. It consists of necklace, bracelet, earrings and pins 2. It was a fabulous vintage jewelry investment. It was sold on ebay with a “buy it now” price of $ 1850. The person who bought it had accepted an offer of $ 1400.
To return to the criteria of whether the vintage jewelry is a good investment, here’s the thing: there are lots of beautiful vintage jewelry, but in any case, if the vintage jewelry you think about the purchase is not signed designer piece, then it is not worth as much as those designer signed. So when it comes to investing in vintage jewelry, look for the name of the creator. However, some designers find a stronger dollar than others. Often, faced with shortages. A Schiaparelli is harder to find than Weiss. Miriam Haskell is widely available, but some of its pieces command huge dollars, especially if they are sets using its baroque pearls. Sherman jewelry is highly sought, but some colors get much more money than others. And regardless of designer, sets (called Halves – 2 rooms – 3 or jewels or more) are much more interest to collectors.
Coco Chanel was one of its main competitors and Schiaparelli Schiaparelli, Chanel vintage jewelry fetches a high dollar. There were 21 bids placed on eBay for 80 Chanel cuff bracelet on the right and it finally sold for $ 2025 … and it is not even gold! It is gold plated. I find it surprising in some respects, that buyers will pay more for gold plated or gold filled with items that are vintage design signed their gold and diamonds, but not signed designer.
